Celebrating the Poetry of Peace

Who Am I

I wash up these plates off the sink,
not for thank you, not for reward, but because I can.
I am all the kindness I show.

We sell our interest everywhere we go.
Nation to nation, spouse to spouse, friend to friend
sister to brother - no one listens. A dialogue of the deaf.

I am all the voices of people I hear.
In a pub in far away Clifden, in Connemara,
A good man I do not know

bought me red wine,
a lady drove me around the popular places.
I am all the gratitude I owe.

I ride on horses, I ride on horses of people's backs.
This I shall never betray.
I am all the free gifts I receive.

Penumbra, Shade of Partial Light

When we bring what we see back,
is the interpretation of the images
in our mind, notes written in short-hand.

We slant the light of reality
to fit our fancy. Faith is an unknown glass
to re-invent what we see.

We can look up a word say a flower,
with a lens in order to read it,
but its essential laws remain the same.

We must allow ourselves the joy of loving through life more than we fear our living.

Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one.
